Look after your weight

You may not be aware of this, but your weight has a big impact on your mental health. The more you weigh, indicates that your diet may not be the best which has a negative effect on how you feel overall as well. For this reason, it’s important you pay attention to your diet and aim to eat a healthy one. If you struggle, companies like Clinique la Prairie offer healthy weight programs which are worth considering.

Spend time exercising

One of the most effective ways to look after your mental health is to exercise. Exercise not only helps your physical health, but it also supports your mental health, helping you have a more positive outlook in life. How you exercise is down to you – you could take up running, cycling, sign up for a sport or start swimming. If you want a challenge, you could look to do a couch to 5k or sign up for an obstacle course like tough mudders. When exercising it’s important to drink plenty of water as this will help improve your performance, keep hydrated and benefit your mental health. 1 litre water bottles are a great way to drink more and keep track of how much you are drinking.

Make sleep a priority and drink less alcohol

Throughout life, sleep is extremely important and you should be aiming to get around 7-9 hours a day – this can vary depending on your age. It’s been proven that if you don’t get enough sleep, it could be negatively impacting your mental health. Alcohol is also a substance that can affect your mental health and your cognitive function in a negative way. Drinking too much also damages your overall health, reducing your life expectancy and affecting others around you. With everything in life, we always say to enjoy things in moderation.
