Types of Drug Rehabilitation Programs: What Patients Can Expect

Knowledge is power, and knowing where you are going and what you can expect, in most situations, makes the transition that much easier, less daunting, and much less stressful. The same applies, perhaps even more so, when it comes to taking the brave step of entering a drug rehabilitation center.

Knowing what to expect takes the mystery out of the experience, and yes, that is a good thing in this case. Seeking drug rehab in the North West is a choice that comes with many variations regarding the treatment options that are available.

Each program offers patients a unique and individually tailored treatment program that is best suited to the individual’s needs and best practices. By understanding the differences in the programs that are offered, you are able to make a more informed decision that is best suited to the journey of recovery.

Why is Drug Rehab Necessary?

Addressing the issues of addiction is a very necessary process for those who are affected by the cold and callous nature of addiction. Through rehabilitation, patients receive the essential treatment and support that they dearly need to get their lives out of the gutter.

For individuals struggling with addiction and substance abuse, many times, the light at the end of the tunnel is the flash at the end of the barrel. Sad to say and hard to hear, but a truth that needs to be realized before the flash bang.

Inpatient Rehab

Inpatient rehab allows patients to be admitted to the facility for a certain and specified period of time, where both medical and emotional assistance is provided 24 hours a day. The environment is structured and built upon routine, while the daily activities consist of activities, therapy, and rest.

Medical professionals are on hand to monitor and assist with the withdrawal process, and monitoring is continued on a 24/7 basis. Moreover, individual and group therapy sessions are held to identify and manage both triggers and behavioral patterns.

Outpatient Rehab

Through the outpatient program, patients are allowed to carry on with their daily activities and responsibilities outside of the facility while continuing to receive treatment. They receive a full and comprehensive evaluation regarding their history of addiction and mental illnesses and the family and social circumstances involved.

Therapy sessions, medication management, and recommended support groups are part of the tailored plan of treatment action. This program encourages the support of friends and family during and after recovery.

Residential Rehab

24/7 round-the-clock supervision is offered and required in this type of drug rehabilitation program, providing the necessary support in a homely setting. This ensures a feeling of safety and well-being. Treatment options are tailored to a patient’s specific needs regarding therapy, medical care, and recreational activities.

Creating connections and building relationships that last is part of the process of preparing a patient to be successfully integrated back into society in a healthy and functioning manner. This includes life skills training and relapse prevention strategies.
