The Importance of Practising Good Oral Health For Families All Across Australia

Many of us here in Australia are guilty of going to bed without brushing our teeth before we lay our heads down for the night. When it comes to the kids, however, they will do whatever they can to distract you so that you don’t ask them if they have brushed their teeth before they go to bed. It is especially important for your children to brush their teeth last thing at night and first thing in the morning because of the amount of sweets and snacks that they eat on any given day. It is your responsibility as the adult in the family to make sure that they are brushing regularly so that they don’t suffer from any tooth decay.

We all think that our children are beautiful and they may have the most wonderful smile but if they have crooked teeth then it’s time for you to make an appointment with your local dental care facility so that you can provide your child with the winning smile that will help them later on in their lives in a social and business capacity. Everyone should be brushing twice a day and flossing as well but many don’t carry out this simple procedure to the letter. If you like to skip out on doing these things then book yourself an appointment with your dentist to get your teeth professionally cleaned.

When you practice good oral health for yourself and your family members then you get to enjoy the following benefits.

  • You get healthy gums – There are lots of bacteria in your mouth but some of them are good and some of them are bad. The good bacteria help you to break down the food in your mouth so that it makes the job of your digestive system a little bit easier. For the bad bacteria, however, this can lead to illness and infections as well. This is why brushing your teeth regularly helps to keep the balance between the good and the bad bacteria in your mouth. If you are not following a regular routine then harmful bacteria can grow in numbers and this will lead to things like plaque.
  • You get healthier lungs – This may come as a surprise to many but not the Beseenhub because they associate oral health with the ability to breathe and they are more closely related than you would imagine. Every time that you breathe in, you are breathing in the bad bacteria which travel to your lungs. This can lead to issues with breathing and many other pulmonary diseases that you definitely do not want in your life. These same bacteria can travel to all parts of your body and can go into your heart which leaves you prone to a heart attack

This is why you need to take your oral hygiene seriously and not just because it prevents cavities or the need to extract one of your teeth.
