How to Incorporate Language Learning into Your Daily Routine

Learning a language can be a fascinating adventure and a great investment in your professional and personal future. However, it is also full of challenges. That’s why it is good to build your language learning habits around your daily routine. Here are some tips from Lingomee.com on how to do it.

Watch Series That You Love in the Original Language

A great way to learn a language is to listen to it while it is used naturally. Try to watch your favorite series or movie in the language you are trying to learn. If just listening to the dialogue is too hard for you yet, turn on subtitles. This way, you learn not only how to say particular words, but also how to write them.

Watching series can also help you to build better vocabulary, and learn idioms. The best part? You can easily incorporate learning into your daily entertainment.

Change Your Phone Language

You probably use your phone every day. You can use it to learn a little bit more language. Go to your phone settings and change to the language you are learning. You will automatically learn many new words just by reaching for your smartphone. You can do the same with your social media accounts – that will expand your learning possibilities even further. The best part? You won’t even feel that you are actually studying

Listen to a Podcast

Podcasts have become very popular within the last few years. You can listen to many people talking about various topics. If you are a more experienced language user and want to practice your language while learning something interesting, you can reach for a podcast with a topic that interests you. Beginners should reach for podcasts that are focused mainly on language learning itself.

Use Apps in Your Spare Time

During your day, you have a lot of moments that can be used for learning a language. For example, while you commute to work or school on a bus, or when you are waiting in line, or even when you wait for the kettle to boil.

When you have more time (f.e. while commuting), you can listen to a podcast. However, don’t waste any spare time. If you only have a few minutes, you can open one of many language learning apps. Many of them are designed to be game-like, thanks to which learning is fun. Additionally, many operate on quick time sessions, for example five minutes or even a minute quick round. That means you can reach for them in any place, even if you have just a short break.

Be Regular

Remember that short and sweet sessions of language learning everyday bring more effect than just an hours-long learning class once in a while. The key to success is consistency and repetition. This is why you should try to incorporate learning a language into your daily routine. Thanks to this, it will be easier to stick to it and see your success more quickly.
